This body of work explores notions of being the 'other', a stranger in a foreign land. This concept developed in response to Adele’s ongoing work in various African countries over the past several years. Bridging the cultural gap was accomplished through the language of art and is captured here through the rendering of children's expressive responses to meeting the artist for the first time. The image of the artist caught in the reflection of their eyes suggests a degree of connection beyond the limitation of language.
